A frozen, tooth-cracking sweet at Cafe Zaiya

IMG_5292.JPG
I met up with MH in Times Square, but rather than brave the crowds at the most annoying intersection in the city, we opted to take a stroll east to the Lexington Ave-59th Street station. On the way over I maneuvered a detour to Cafe Zaiya. This green tea ice cream sandwich looked all delicious in its refrigerated case, but once we bit into it we realized the textures were all wrong—this was hard ice cream between two even harder shortbread cookies. Altogether it was too rich and heavy...though make no mistake, MH and I gobbled it down anyway. Waste not, want not, right?

  1. From the picture it looks like you are at the Yagura market rather than Cafe Zaiya. They don't sell groceries @ Cafe Zaiya. =/

  2. You're right, I am! We wandered there after Zaiya to pick up some noodles.

  3. I guess we'll just have to make some good green tea ice cream sandwiches on our own. =)

  5. LOL! :) aww I go to Yagura and Cafe Zaiya all the time - so sorry you had that treat in such a frozen manner :) If you get another chance, I highly recommend the mochi rice cakes in that same freezer section (they're not frozen at all!) :)
