I suppose it's obvious from this blog that I'm pretty obsessed with food. What you may not know is that I'm also obsessed with making jewelry. I've been creating earrings, necklaces, and bracelets out of sterling silver and semi-precious stones and crystals for several years now, and though I took a break from it for a while, I have finally updated my Etsy store to highlight some of the items I make. So, this is just a little announcement (and plea) for you all to go check it out! Also, because this post really doesn't have anything to do with food and I feel I should make it mean something to you readers, I'm hosting a little giveaway for one (1) of the eight pairs of earrings pictured here.

I have no idea who reads Salty/Savory/Sweet, and I'd love to get to know more of you. So to enter, comment on this post with how you came across this site and what keeps you reading—or what you'd like to see more of. Also, make sure to indicate which one of these eight earrings you'd like: Lipstick, Swirl, Creme de la Creme, Cherry Cocktail, Rock Candy, Perfect, Flamenco, Two Tonight. For more detail about each pair, click on its picture or name to go to the Etsy listing.

(I'm aware that the nature of this giveaway means I'll probably only get responses from female readers, but come on fellas, you all have a gal in your life that would appreciate some jewelry, right?)

One entry per person, please, and the contest will end Friday, December 5th, 2008 at 11 pm mountain time. I'll then choose a winner via a random number generator or some other clever method.

Good luck, and I hope to hear from you all!

  3. Hmm, I'm not sure how I found your blog, I mean I know you commented on my site but I know we knew each other from... yeah... but I don't know how I found THAT blog...
I like dangly earrings in general (earrings is one of these weird tweaks I have because I don't really accessorize at all), so they all appeal, but I have so many pairs of earrings already... lol. Hmm, I guess rock candy because I don't have a pair like that and I know I could wear them with a lot of things (and they're cute)... or two tonight... haha I am indecisive aren't I? :)

  4. I think all your earrings are pretty cute, but I don't think they'll fit into my unpierced ears. Hmm, if you could only mix your jewelry-making with food eating somehow.

    anyway, Happy Thanksgiving!

  5. I found your blog through Tastespotting. I'm a novice blogger who is totally and completely addicted to food.

Your photos are beautiful, as is your jewelry. I think the Swirl are my favorites.

  6. I've been reading your blog for quite a while now...long enough for me to forget how I found it! I'm pretty sure it was through a favorites blog roll on yet another blog, but I can't remember which.
I'm on a never-ending search for a good BBQ pork bun like I had in Seattle, so I enjoyed the posts where you reviewed restaurants in search of good noodles, etc. I also like your current posts on how you're adapting to such a change in environment.
I like the Rock Candy best, I think, closely followed by the Swirl. They are all pretty though, good job!

  7. I had to look back to when I subscribed earlier this year, and I think I found you through one of the New York food photo groups in Flickr (Serious Eats, maybe?). I recently transplanted from NY, too, but I'm still enjoying your photography and writings about your food adventures in your new location. I like your Two Tonight and Swirl earrings. Hope your Etsy endeavors are successful!

  9. I stumbled across your blog randomly one day and it immediately caught my eye. I keep reading because up until three months ago, I had lived in Fort Collins my entire life (22 years). I am presently living in London for a year, but your blog is such a wonderful slice of home. It is always interesting to read your restaurant reviews as I have eaten at nearly every one of those places. I also love to find out what a Fort Collins newby thinks of the town because I only know it through the eyes of a native.

The 'swirl' and 'perfect' pairs are lovely.

  10. I found your blog from foodgawker maybe? Or it was a recomended blog on the side of my google reader.

Anyways, my name is Grace Young. I don't cook much but I like your blog a lot. It's normal food, or food that I could make versus the huge array of too fancy food that fills in the internet. I'm not that big on earring, but I just wanted to comment and stuff. Sweet.
